A picture of Tim Adkins, host of the Tim Adkins Does Digital podcast. That’s me.

I don’t know if you ever listened to the Tim Adkins Does Digital podcast, but that’s me.

I’m Tim Adkins.

I created about 13 episodes of the show from 2017 to 2019 before I lost steam and just didn’t do it anymore.

I keep promising that I’ll relaunch, but I needed some reasons why.

Here are those reasons.

For you to read? Yes, but also, for me to be convinced so I’ll get off my butt and crack open the mic again.

Haha. I just said butt crack.

A lot has changed since 2019.

Since my last episode came out in 2019, digital marketing has changed so much that it looks totally different now. AI (artificial intelligence) is now a big deal, there’s apparently this 10-year-old kid who’s taken over Twitter, social and digital media have changed a lot in general, and you can do much more self-service advertising too. All these things have made the marketing world look very different from what it was just a few years ago.

The good news is that new tech has opened up a lot of possibilities for people who are passionate about marketing, design, writing and making comprehensive plans. Don’t let anyone tell you that AI will take your job — there’s still a need for the human touch and there always will be. There are amazing tools out there, but they need someone with the right skills to use them properly and create awesome stuff.

And look, I’m navigating all this just like you are. I can get confused. I can get excited. I might not know everything, but I hope I can give some people some insight.

And let’s face it, I’ve missed the sound of my own voice.

I used to tell my fellow students at Ohio University Southern when I was attending there and working at the online radio station that “you wouldn’t be in radio unless you were a little bit of a showoff”. That certainly applies to me. I will own that.

The fact is, it’s all fun for me.

Am I trying to get famous?

Ha. No.

(Although if you want to see my iMDB profile, I’ve got one here…)

I just like to ramble about stuff. Ask anyone who went to college with me and wondered why my pre-recorded voice tracks were like 60 seconds long. It’s because I don’t know how to shut up.

It’s a blast. I love it. I love the recording, the editing, the publishing…all of it. And I’ve missed it.

I had a reputation…once.

No lie, I just Googled my podcast, and I’m still doing OK even though I haven’t uploaded an episode in over three years.

That’s the Apple podcasting charts, and that’s me at number 245 in Business and Marketing Podcasts in Ireland. (At least it was when I posted it. Those things change, though. I should screenshot it.)

It’s the only chart I’m listed on right now. But it’s something.

I’m still listed among the best marketing podcasts at Playpodcast.net, alongside some pretty popular and skilled names.

I have listeners in 49 countries around the world. Or, have had, I guess. I’m on over 100 podcast directories not only here in the United States, but Germany, France, the UK, India, the Middle East, and Africa.

When I was little, I dreamed about being on the radio all over the world. This is like that. It’s pretty amazing.

I’ve been keeping everyone hanging for three years or so now. And it’s time to get back to it.

So now, the hard part.

The hardest part is getting started.

Again.

I know I’ve promised to do this a lot.

I mean it this time.

I really do.

Wish me luck.
